Susan is trained in many dance techniques, including ballet, jazz, modern, ballroom, tap, West African, Brazilian, Polynesian, Latin, lyrical, and hip-hop, all of which has formed her unique Jazz Fusion style with a particular emphasis on Improvisation. Susan received her academic education from Marin Community and Indian Valley Colleges in Marin County, where she studied Dance Theater Production, Administration of Justice, and Business Management. Since 1993, she has taught tap, jazz, and lyrical dance classes in the Bay Area. She has performed in stage plays, improvisational troupes, and for benefit concerts, festivals, pageants, and corporate functions throughout Northern California, including the Marin Civic Center, Stanford University, San Francisco State University, Kentfield Fine Arts Theater, the Regional Center for the Arts, Open Arts Circle, Yoshi’s, the Kaiser Arena, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. In addition, in the 1990s, Susan was a performer and choreographer for Move Dance Theatre in Oakland, and she formed her own dance troupe that toured the Bay Area, including conducting an after-school youth program at the South of Market Recreational Center which produced a benefit performance, featuring Jocelyn Enriquez, at the Annual South of Market Street Fair in San Francisco. Since 2014, she has served on the Board of Directors of Diablo Ballet.
